Τhis record is primarily a result of the deep and loyal friendship of Palov and Angelos Angelides, but also a result of their hookup through time: [ I Can Hear It Now EP, Cast A Blast 2010 - Troubles EP, Cast A Blast 2011 - Palov Meets Ang. Angelides EP, Carnibal Recordings 2012 - and official remixes for: Caro Emerald, Blend Mishkin, Mo’ Horrizons ]
They claim that they are in search of a musical form that includes and arranges music from real instruments and performers, contrary to the branded way of sampling and programming music and sounds in general.
Patiently and with a sense of humour, the time has come to listen to the fresh sounds of He Hecho Mucho Por Ti ( I’ve done plenty of things for you ). Here we come across the grecian stroke, a glimpse against the ephemeral blender of our musical world. Why grecian? Because all the musicians and singers who participate in these recordings are based in the city of Athens, Greece. The outcome, a musical shake-up that occurs from each collaborator’s influences and culture.
From the dominican MC/DJ/producer Jeff Gonzalez aka BnC, the mexican singer Daniela Bolano in her debut recording, the greek-australian trombonist Jim Staridas, Panagiotis Raptis on the saxophone, Christos Kalkanis on clarinet, to the skilful kanun player Panos Dimitrakopoulos, the excessive bassist Vasilis Papastamopoulos, to the popular singers Faye Brouzaki aka Lady Faye and Maria Perdiki aka Jammaroots.
When DJ Palov meets the ingenious guitarist Angelos Angelides the result is a tuneful frolic based on jazz ideas. A musical transport of sounds, from the caribbean and the latin-american idioms to the transcendental orientalism. A proof that they’ve done plenty of things for each other.
